48: THE GALERIA STUDIO COLLECTION IN WARSAW
In the 48 years that have passed since Galeria Studio was founded at Teatr Studio in Warsaw, its collection of contemporary art has rivalled that of a small museum or a large gallery.
The book 48: The Galeria Studio Collection in Warsaw, published in 2020, tells the story of Galeria Studio’s exhibitions and collection. It brings out what we find most interesting today. It recalls what is less well remembered. It talks about the history of the collection and international contacts, the neo-avant-garde and painting, the care of the collection, the Academy of Movement and the changing artistic policy of Galeria Studio.
The works of art that make up the Studio Gallery’s collection capture and freeze time. They show the evolution of interests, tastes and criteria, giving an image of the changing art scene in Poland from the 1970s up to today. While being proof of past fascinations, they also prompt a careful look at what is important in them today. Caution—the power of their impact may surprise you!
